Part 1, Rock Climbing Rescue, El Capitan. A drunk climber has fallen and is only being held by the rope around his leg. This is around 10am and the Yosemite rescue team risks their life to save him. They did not know how well the rope was anchored by the drunk climber when the rescuer jumared up.

Is that the trip or virginia or something that he was on? Also, he mighta just been boozy smelling from drinking the night before… wasn’t necessarily drunk if he smelled like shit… he is on a wall.

I’m wondering if the video poster knows for sure if this guy was actually drunk or not. He definitely sound drunk, but that might just be the combination of his California stoner accent and the fact the he’s been hanging upside-down for a long time.

Doesnt matter if their drunk, a criminal, or being an ass to the rescue team. its the rescue teams job to save all lives. unfortuntly there are some ppl that do stupid things and we have to go rescue them. but its what we’re trained to do and we risk our lives for strangers.

if it were me as the rescuer i would just get all the bouldering mats i could find and put them under the dumb twat, then cut the rope and hope he doesn’t die.

I don’t know what is more sad, the video itself, or all of the people who responded (and the OP) who think this guy is simply drunk. The guy is most certainly tripping.

Don’t feel sorry for the rescue team…it’s their job, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, think of it this way, the life they saved could have been yours…granted the guy’s an idiot, but his time is not up yet…there are no accidents.

He must have been hanging at least a hour or more as search and rescue had to get up there. Then they had to fire a line to him with a rope gun.
